Salaun has played professionally in France for a few seasons getting valuable experience. Now he is in the 2024 NBA Draft.
In 2021, Salaun started playing for Cholet in the U21 league. He was able to get called up to the senior team in July of 2023. Salaun was a full-time player for the 2023-2024 season. He averaged 9.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.
Following the 2023-2024 season, Salaun declared for the 2024 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a first-round pick.
Salaun has solid size for the NBA at over 6-foot-8 and 217.4 pounds. He also has a good wingspan that reaches over seven feet. His frame can support more muscle, as he continues to fill out. This size will help him match up with other players in the NBA. To go with his size, he also has good body control.
He has shown to be a good finisher at the basket. Length doesn’t bother Salaun that much. He can finish through contact well too. Salaun can finish plays with a strong dunk. With Salaun’s body control, he can avoid contact and finish too.
His defense can also provide a lot of value. He has the ability to stay in front of other forwards who try to drive. Salaun can guard multiple positions, making him versatile. He is able to switch when asked, making him a better defender.
While he does provide good defense, there are limitations to his game. He has the size and body control to be a good rim protector, but he doesn’t produce in that regard. Salaun averaged just 0.2 blocks per game last season.
His shooting improved last season, but still needs a lot of improvement. He shot 31 percent from 3-point range, but is still far from a consistent shooter. Salaun will need to adjust to the NBA 3-point line and improve his percentage to stretch the floor.
Salaun has a negative assist-to-turnover ratio and needs to see the floor more clearly. He can be pressured into mistakes. Limiting turnovers will help Salaun be a more effective player and to see the floor more.
Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick
