The Thunder lost to the Boston Celtics to a score of 105-111. The Thunder put up a fight but it unfortunately wasn’t enough for the win. While the Thunder lost, some Thunder players show more promise. Besides the good games, there were some who struggled as well. Here is an article about Thunder players who show promise.
Bazley had another tough time scoring the ball, going 2-11 from the field, missing all three threes and missing his only free throw attempt. He rounded out his line with 10 rebounds, six assists, one steal and no turnovers. Despite the poor shooting, he had a decent line and showed nice hustle on the rebounding as he finished with a team-high 10 rebounds (two offensive). No one knows for sure how long it’s going to take for him to get the shooting under control but he’s still fun to watch. He’s comically athletic and he can jump through the ceiling. Imagine if he could shoot in an efficient manner.
Robinson-Earl started the game off very slowly. He missed all five shots, grabbed three rebounds and tossed one assist at the half. However, he flipped the script in the second half: scoring 13 points on 5/11 shooting, 3/7 threes and grabbing five more boards. He finished with a stat-line of 13 points, eight boards and one assist. Robinson-Earl is looking like a very promising player for the Thunder and his scoring and rebounding are rounding out perfectly. One of the best three-point shooters already, his floor spacing and his terrific defense will only keep him on the court longer. Side note: he came off the bench this time but still logged 27 minutes while Derrick Favors lasted 19 and Mike Muscala didn’t play. Robinson Earl will only get better from here and he’s only going to be playing more later on.
Giddey had yet another impressive game going for 15 points, eight boards, three dimes and one steal on 5/13 shooting, 4/6 from three and 1/2 from the line. Giddey is such a fun player to watch and his game is very mature already. He is clearly going to be the starting point guard for this team for a long time and his game is only going to get better from here. Another takeaway from this game is that he went 4/6 from three which shows how he’s improving from there. He’s going to be an all-star in this league.
There’s a lot that can’t be said about this season for Poku. He hasn’t gotten any playing time and when he has, he just can’t get it done. This time, he put up zero points on 0/1 shooting, two boards and two dimes while turning the ball over twice. As much as everyone wants to see him succeed, he’s just not getting the playing time necessary for improvement. It wouldn’t be all that surprising if he gets sent to the G-League to get some more playing time. Despite all that’s happening, he still has a ton of potential because of his promising rookie season.
