Taylor Hendricks 2023 NBA Draft Profile

Publish Date: June 20, 2023

The 2023 NBA Draft will be an important event for teams to build for their future. Here is the Taylor Hendricks 2023 NBA Draft Profile.

Taylor Hendricks Background

Position: Forward

Size: 6-foot-8, 214 pounds

Class: Freshman

School: UCF

2022-2023 stats: 15.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.9 steals, 1.7 blocks, 47.8%FG, 39.4%3FG, 78.2%FT

Hendricks was not expected to be an NBA Draft prospect this season. After one year at UCF, he was able to prove himself and is now in the 2023 NBA Draft.

As a four-star prospect out of Florida, Hendricks decided to stay in-state to play for UCF. During his only season with the Knights, Hendricks averaged 15.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. He was able to help the team go to the NIT second round.

Following the NIT, Hendricks declared for the 2023 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a top-10 pick.

Taylor Hendricks Strengths

Hendricks has good athleticism and size, which gives him good versatility. He can run the floor in transition and get to the basket on offense. On defense, Hendricks can guard multiple positions, whether that be on the wing or even some on the interior. He has good speed and leaping ability, but what makes it more valuable is that he has a good motor to play hard for a lot of the game.

He has the ability to shoot well from all levels of the floor. Hendricks can pull up from the mid-range with the length to shoot over defenders. He has the ability to catch and shoot from behind the 3-point line, which he did at a 39.4 percent clip. Hendricks is also successful at the free throw line, as he shot 78.2 percent at the collegiate level.

Blocking shots is something that Hendricks did extremely well at the college level. He can guard smaller players and block their shots when he is guarding on the ball. When he is off the ball, he can help from the weak side and block shots as well.

Taylor Hendricks Weaknesses

Hendricks is not the best ball-handler for a wing. He can drive and get to the basket or pull up, but mostly was able to use his height and length, rather than his moves to create space. Right now, he is not a player who can initiate for the entire offense.

He will need to hit the weight room at the start of his career. Hendricks weighs just 210 pounds and will get outmuscled by other wing players. Adding strength will also help him finish at the rim more consistently, making him a more well-rounded player.

There are times when Hendricks can disappear on the offensive side of the ball during some games. He needs to work on searching for his shot more, which can be tough because he doesn’t create a ton for himself. Keeping his foot on the gas and staying aggressive offensively can really help his game.

Projected Draft Range: Top 10 Pick
