The 2022 NBA Draft will be an important event for teams to build for their future. Here is the Tari Eason 2022 NBA Draft Profile.
Tari Eason Background
Position: Forward
Size: 6-foot-8, 215 pounds
Class: Sophomore
School: LSU
2021-22 stats: 16.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.9 steals, 1.1 blocks per game, 52.1% FG, 35.9% 3FG, 80% FT
Eason played at two different schools in two years and was still able to develop. He then decided to enter the 2022 NBA Draft.
Out of high school, Eason was a three-star prospect who signed with Cincinnati. In his lone season for the Bearcats, Eason averaged 7.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. After the season, he decided to transfer to LSU. His play helped LSU make the 2022 NCAA Tournament and advance to the second round. He averaged 16.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game at LSU.
After his season at LSU, Eason decided he was ready for the pros. He is currently projected to be a mid to late first-round pick.
Tari Eason Strengths
Eason has some serious upside as a defender. He has the height to guard players in the post, but he also showed good perimeter defense. His 7-foot-2 wingspan gives him tremendous length. He averaged 1.9 steals with his ability to jump into passing lanes and use his length. His play will offer production and versatility on the defensive end of the floor.
He can score in a variety of ways. Eason can stretch the floor with his 3-point shot. After shooting 24 percent at Cincinnati, Eason really improved his shooting at LSU by shooting 35.9 percent. He can also finish in the post. On top of that, he hit 80 percent of his free throws last season.
For a player of his size, Eason possesses good athleticism and body control. He has a pretty quick first step and proves he has some speed too with his ability to run the floor in transition. In transition and in the half-court, Eason can throw down some pretty intense dunks. Eason can use his athleticism to match up with both bigger and smaller opponents on the defensive end.
Tari Eason Weaknesses
Eason will need to add weight to his frame, as he weighs just 215 pounds. He will likely play power forward or a small ball center role in the NBA and will have to guard players much bigger and stronger than him. His slight frame could have him get pushed around a little bit at the start of his career.
While he displayed the ability to shoot better at LSU, he needs to continue to work on that area of his game because at times he can be streaky. He only made 0.8 3-point shots per game. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see his shooting percentages fluctuate throughout his career if he doesn’t continue to work on that area of his game.
Currently, Eason turns the ball over way too much. He averaged one assist per game, but a whopping 2.2 turnovers per game. For a player who doesn’t handle the ball that often, he turns the ball over too much. He will need to make smarter decisions with the basketball at the next level.
Projected Draft Range: Mid to Late First Round Pick
