T.J. McConnell will undergo hand surgery

TJ McConnell surgery

Pacers guard T.J. McConnell will undergo surgery on his hand. The surgery will attempt to repair torn ligaments in his right hand. McConnell will miss several months of the NBA season. He may even miss the rest of the 2021 season.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.

McConnell is in his third season as an Indiana Pacer. Previously to 2019, he was a member of the 76ers for four years. He went undrafted out of Arizona in the 2015 NBA Draft, eventually being signed after playing for the Sixers Summer League team.

The point guard has played 26 games so far in the 2021 season, averaging 8.4 points, 4.8 assists and one steal per game. His six starts with Indiana have already set a high mark for his Pacers tenure.
