NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has signed a four-year, $285 million extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The deal will make Gilgeous-Alexander the highest-paid NBA player on a yearly basis.
Gilgeous-Alexander, 26, won the MVP last season and led the Thunder to an NBA championship. He is a three-time All-Star and three-time All-NBA selection. Last season, he averaged 32.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game.
After winning the championship, the Thunder have seemed comitted to keep their core together. Forward Jaylin Williams signed an extension to help the frontcourt depth, while now the Thunder have locked up the MVP for the foreseeable future.
