With NBA free agency largely wrapped up, it’s a great time to take a look at each NBA team’s depth chart as we head closer to the NBA season. Let’s take a look at the San Antonio Spurs’ updated depth chart following free agency, along with some analysis of the team’s incoming and outgoing players as they shape up for the 2026–27 season.
PG: De’Aaron Fox, Jordan McLaughlin, Ja’Kobi Gillespie, David Jones Garcia
SG: Stephon Castle, Dylan Harper
SF: Devin Vassell, Carter Bryant, Keldon Johnson
PF: Tobias Harris, Julian Champagnie, Harrison Barnes
C: Victor Wembanyama, Luke Kornet, Tarris Reed Jr., Jayden Quaintance
The Spurs had a strong free agency period simply by understanding that they shouldn’t mess with a team coming off an NBA Finals appearance. The Spurs didn’t make any flashy moves in free agency and mainly added a couple of strong foundational pieces while keeping nearly their entire core and second unit that got them to a 62-20 record and the NBA Finals.
Their biggest offseason addition was forward Tobias Harris. The Spurs signed Harris to a two-year, $31 million deal after he spent the last two seasons with Detroit. Last season, Harris averaged 13.3 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 46.9% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range. Harris provides a reliable veteran presence as well as strong three-point shooting (a career average of 36.6%) and will help take some of the three-point scoring load off Julian Champagnie.
The Spurs were also able to bring in some new talent through the 2026 NBA Draft by selecting forward Jayden Quaintance with the 20th overall pick, as well as Ja’Kobi Gillespie and Maliq Brown in the second round. Besides the draft and the addition of Harris, the Spurs were mainly focused on retaining their own players, re-signing Wembanyama, Champagnie and Barnes to new contracts this summer.
The Spurs should be extremely happy that they kept their 2025-26 team together while adding Harris. They were able to lock in many of their young stars and, after last season, have firmly established themselves as one of the best teams in the NBA and one of the true championship contenders entering this year. The Spurs were incredibly close to winning the championship last year with Wembanyama at the helm, but now anything short of an NBA Championship will likely be viewed as a disappointment this year.
