The Sacramento Kings are waiving six-time All-Star DeMar DeRozan, allowing the veteran to enter free agency, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
DeRozan still had a portion of his contract guaranteed, but he and the Kings worked together to allow him to find a new home this offseason. According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, DeRozan’s salary was guaranteed for $10 million, which Sacramento will have until the end of August to waive and stretch over three seasons.
DeRozan is expected to have plenty of suitors interested in the veteran as he enters his 18th NBA season.
In his last season with the Kings, DeRozan averaged 18.4 points while shooting 49.7% from the field and 32.0% from three-point range in 77 games.
