Point guard and all-time leader in triple-doubles, Russell Westbrook, has made a request to help stabilize the floundering Clippers. Westbrook has requested to come off of the bench to help Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and James Harden “establish some continuity.”
NBA Insider for TNT reported the news via Twitter on Friday.
The blockbuster trade for Harden came shortly after the season began. All throughout the offseason, Harden made it clear in public spaces that he did not want to play for Philadelphia, calling GM Daryl Morey a “liar.” The Sixers traded away Harden, P.J. Tucker and Filip Petrusev for four players, a 2028 first round pick, two second rounders and a 2029 pick swap.
Since arriving in Los Angeles, Harden is 0-5 with the Clippers. The team has not been able to get anything going, and failed to gel the four superstar talents on the roster. Now that Westbrook is coming off of the bench, something many fans thought he would never want to do, Terrence Mann will start.
