The Boston Celtics and guard Payton Pritchard have agreed to a two-year, $44.2 million contract extension, with a mutual option for the 2029-30 season, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Pritchard is coming off a career year with the Celtics, where he averaged career highs in points (17), assists (5.2) and rebounds (3.9). Pritchard also won the 2025 Sixth Man of the Year award and was part of the Celtics’ championship-winning team in 2024.
He figures to be an important core piece for the team after significant retooling was done over the summer.
Pritchard was drafted by the Celtics with the No. 26 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, and with his new deal, will remain in Boston through at least his ninth season, and potentially his 10th if the mutual option is exercised.
