2021 NBA Champion P.J. Tucker has signed with the Miami Heat. The veteran has signed a two-year $15 million to move from Milwaukee to Miami. In addition, Max Strus will remain with the Heat on a two-year deal worth $3.5 million and Dewayne Dedmon returns on a one-year contract.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported the news via Twitter on Monday, after the NBA free agency window opened.
Tucker starred in the 2021 NBA Playoffs with the Bucks on the way to his first NBA Championship. In the semifinal round, he was tasked with guarding Kevin Durant, one of the most dynamic scorers in the league, doing enough to slow him down, leading to a Game 7 victory.
After spending 2006 and 2007 as a Raptor, Tucker bounced around the German League. There, he won the finals and finals MVP. He earned his way back into the NBA, moving to the Suns, Raptors (again), Rockets and finally the Bucks.
Now, he earns a payday with a new-look Heat who are gearing up for another title run.
