Fultz is seen as a a large part of the Orlando Magics present and future since they gave him a three-year, $50 million extension just over two weeks ago.
The Magic acquired Fultz in a trade around the trade deadline in 2019 for Jonathan Simmons, a first round pick via Oklahoma City Thunder and a second round pick via Cleveland Cavaliers. He had been considered a draft bust after getting taken first overall in 2017 by the Philadelphia 76ers.
But Fultz had a career year in 2019-20 when he averaged 12.1 points, 5.1 assists, 3.3. rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. During his first seven games of this season he was on pace to set career highs in multiple categories averaging 14.3 points, 6.1 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.0 steal per game.
After Wednesday’s win over the Cavaliers the Magic have staSteve Clifford will have to fill Fultz’s void at point guard with 15th overall pick rookie Cole Anthony, Michael Carter-Williams, and two way player Jordan Bone.
