With NBA free agency largely wrapped up, it’s a great time to take a look at each NBA team’s depth chart as we head closer to the NBA season. Let’s take a look at the Orlando Magic’s updated depth chart following free agency, along with some analysis of the team’s incoming and outgoing players as they shape up for the 2026–27 season.
PG: Jalen Suggs, Jevon Carter, Jase Richardson, Alex Morales
SG: Desmond Bane, Anthony Black, Noah Penda
SF: Franz Wagner, Jamal Cain
PF: Paolo Banchero, Tristan da Silva, Jonathan Isaac
C: Wendell Carter Jr., Nikola Vucevic, Goga Bitadze, Izaiyah Nelson, Colin Castleton
The Orlando Magic had a relatively quiet offseason, opting to keep the same core and heart of the lineup after making the first round of the NBA Playoffs. The Magic had a successful season last year, going 45–37 and nearly taking down the top-seeded Detroit Pistons in the first round of the playoffs after taking a 3–1 series lead before the Pistons came back to win in Game 7.
While not a change to the roster, the biggest offseason news surrounding the Magic was the firing of head coach Jamahl Mosley. Mosley was responsible for helping turn the Magic into a playoff team over the last three seasons, but losing in the first round in each of those appearances prompted the organization to make a change in hopes of maximizing the team’s potential.
The Magic replaced Mosley with Spurs assistant Sean Sweeney as their new head coach. Sweeney will inherit one of the NBA’s most talented young cores, led by star forward Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, Desmond Bane and Jalen Suggs.
The biggest free-agent signing for Orlando was Nikola Vucevic. The Magic reunited with franchise legend Vucevic on a one-year deal, and while he may not be expected to play in a starting role, he still has plenty left in the tank and can provide a reliable veteran presence while helping strengthen Orlando’s frontcourt alongside Banchero and Wendell Carter Jr. Vucevic was a two-time All-Star during his first stint with the Magic from the 2012–13 season through the 2020–21 season before being traded to the Chicago Bulls. He averaged 15.1 points and 8.4 rebounds last season and should provide plenty of scoring for Orlando’s second unit.
The return of Vucevic is also important because it helps replace the loss of Moritz Wagner, who left to sign with the Brooklyn Nets in free agency. Wagner had been with the Magic since the 2020–21 season and will bring his toughness and scoring ability to a rebuilding Nets team.
The Magic also decided to re-sign both Jevon Carter and Jonathan Isaac. Carter, 30, averaged 7.2 points and 2.3 assists in 30 games last season. Isaac, 28, averaged career lows of 2.6 points and 2.5 rebounds in 52 games. Both signings are low-risk moves that keep familiar faces in Orlando.
The Magic did not make too many moves over the offseason, as it seems clear the organization likes the core and roster it has built over the past few years. The main question facing the Magic this season is whether new head coach Sean Sweeney can maximize this team’s potential and help them finally get over the first-round hurdle that has held them back over the past three seasons.
