The 2024 NBA Draft will be an important event for teams to build for their future. Here is the Nikola Topic 2024 NBA Draft Profile.
Position: Guard
Size: 6-foot-5.75, 203 pounds
Class: N/A
Country: Serbia
2023-2024 stats: 18.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.1 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.2 blocks, 52.3% FG, 25.9% 3FG, 85.5% FT
Topic has been playing professionally for a few seasons in Europe, growing professionally over that time. He is now in the 2024 NBA Draft.
In 2022, Topic started playing for Crvena Zezveda. He was then loaned to Slodes, OKK Beograd and Mega over the next few seasons. Last season, he returned to Crvena Zezveda late in the season. Before that he averaged 18.4 points and 7.1 assists for Mega.
Following a few professional seasons over seas, Topic declared for the 2024 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a lottery pick.
Topic has the ability to protect the ball very well with his ball-handling. For a player that handles the ball so much, Topic has a low number of turnovers. He can create some separation, but mostly gets downhill and gets to the basket. Topic can run the offense for an NBA team.
Not only does he handle the ball well, Topic sees the floor very well. He passes the ball well, with the ability to set up his teammates for open shots. Topic operates the pick and roll well, finding the open man, whether that is the person screening or someone else on the floor.
Around the rim, Topic has shown the ability to be a crafty finisher with a soft touch. When he is able to get downhill, he can finish through contact. He can use either hand around the basket, finishing at a good rate.
Topic’s shooting will need to improve at the next level. He shot below 25 percent from 3-point range during his pro career. With the NBA line deeper than the international 3-point line, Topic needs to extend his range. Currently, defenders can sag off of him a decent amount.
In the NBA, Topic could have trouble on defense. He can have trouble staying in front of drivers when he is locked in. The thing that makes it tougher is that he seems to have a hot and cold motor. He needs to show more committed effort at the next level and could use some more foot speed.
While he protects the ball well, he can struggle to change directions while dribbling and creating space. He can create for others, but creating for himself could be tough. With that, he might have struggled on the offensive end, as he also struggles shooting.
Projected Draft Range: Lottery Pick
