With NBA free agency largely wrapped up, it’s a great time to take a look at each NBA team’s depth chart as we head closer to the NBA season. Let’s take a look at the New York Knicks’ updated depth chart following free agency, along with some analysis of the team’s incoming and outgoing players as they shape up for the 2026–27 season.

The New York Knicks are coming off their first NBA Championship since 1973, breaking a 52-year championship drought and giving the team the most confidence and optimism they’ve entered a season with in a long time. Luckily for the Knicks, they were able to retain many members of their championship-winning squad from the 2025–26 season, re-signing key players like Landry Shamet, Jordan Clarkson and Jose Alvarado.
It’s clear that the Knicks didn’t want to make too many changes to a team that just won the NBA Championship and felt comfortable with the players already within their squad. The lone key departure was losing center Mitchell Robinson to the Boston Celtics. Robinson was a steady and reliable interior defender and rebounder who will be missed, but his role will be replaced by veteran Andre Drummond, who was the Knicks’ main free-agent signing over the summer.
Drummond, a 14-year league veteran who has played for six different franchises, appeared in 63 games for the 76ers last season and averaged 6.4 points and 8.4 rebounds. Drummond will look to fill the role left by Mitchell and provide a steady veteran presence as a backup center alongside Karl-Anthony Towns.
The Knicks and their fans should be eagerly anticipating the start of the NBA season, as they’ve managed to keep nearly all of their key pieces from their 2025–26 title team. They will enter the season with confidence that they can run it back with the same proven squad that brought them their first championship in over 50 years.
