NBA Game of the Week: Raptors vs. Bucks

Week in and week out there is a multitude of NBA games to watch. Each week there are some games that really may not be worth your time. On the other hand, there are games that are simply a must see. This week’s must-see game is Saturday, January 5. The Toronto Raptors will travel to the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee in a key matchup against the Bucks.

Why this is important

This is the third game between these teams and Toronto is down 0-2 in the four-game season series. The Raptors are currently competing against the Bucks for the number one seed in the East. Losing the series would be detrimental in that sense alone. If the Raptors are going to lose this series to the Bucks, they will need to have some exclamation point wins to back up their record. Beating the Bucks would not only bolster their reputation as potential Eastern Conference Champions, but even have fans believing there is a legitimate title run coming.

All games are simply about the end result and getting a big win over the Bucks in Milwaukee could do wonders for the Raptors mentally.

This game is also likely going to be a playoff matchup in the future. For both of these teams being able to gauge how they stack up against one another is important for game planning and confidence heading into the postseason.

What to watch for

A question that all NBA teams have to ask themselves is who are they going to put against Giannis Antetokounmpo. No matter what gets thrown at him Giannis seems to find a way to battle to the hoop. It will be interesting to see who the Raptors decide to put against Giannis. The Raptors certainly have options. Whether it be Kawhi Leonard or Serge Ibaka look to see how Giannis faces this challenge.

Another aspect to watch for is how these defenses stack up against each other overall. The Bucks currently rank 10th in points allowed while the Raptors rank ninth. But the Bucks are boasting the highest points per game and the highest assists per game. We will have to see how the Raptors battle back against the Bucks machine of an offense.

This game has everything an NBA fan can want. Star power, great teams, high powered offenses and tough-nosed defenses. That is why this will be the NBA’s game of the week.
