NBA Finals Game 5 Preview

NBA Finals Game 5

The Los Angeles Lakers are only one win away from their 17th championship as a franchise. Despite the disruption of the season and the NBA Bubble, it seems as though the Lakers are starting to come together at the perfect time. The NBA Finals game 5 tips off Friday night and Lakers nation should prepare for a celebration.

Recap of Game 4

The Los Angeles Lakers got right back on track after a disappointing loss in Game 3. During the game, the score was close and the Miami Heat were hanging on. With LeBron James leading the charge, there was really not a big chance of the Heat winning. LeBron and Anthony Davis played for 39 and 42 minutes, respectively,(espn.com) and both had some big time plays down the stretch.

The Mamba Jerseys

Yesterday the Lakers announced that they would be wearing their Black Mamba jerseys for Friday’s game. This may not seem like anymore more than a color change but it sure is. These jerseys, along with a good majority of the Lakers’ season, is dedicated to the late Lakers legend, Kobe Bryant. The Lakers have not lost in the playoffs when wearing the Mamba jerseys and it does not seem like they plan to lose game 5 either.

What gives the Lakers the win?

It seems as though the Lakers learned a lot from their loss in game 3. Davis was frustrated with the miscommunications, Jimmy Butler dropped 40 points on the Lakers and the Lakers could not seem to find their grove. Something had to change and it seemed as though the Lakers had it straightened out for game 4.

For a successful game 5, the Lakers need their guards to step up and hit shots. Knocking down shots will relieve some of the pressure put on Anthony Davis down low. Defense and keeping the players on the Heat contained are going to be essential to keeping the Heat under control. LeBron and Anthony Davis will seal the deal with aggressive play and a winning mindset. LeBron has the ability to lead this team to victory. Following their natural instincts and remaining calm are also important factors when teams play in such high stakes games like this.

With the luck of the Black Mamba jerseys and the talented Lakers, there could be a NBA champion named on Friday night. With all the uncertainty and adaptation surrounding the Bubble and this season, the Lakers can rise above and take the title. The NBA Finals game 5 is going to be one to remember regardless of the outcome.
