Ament was a five-star recruit who signed with Tennessee in the class of 2025 out of Virginia. In his only season at Tennessee, he posted 16.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He shot 43 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from deep and 79 percent from the line. Ament led the Volunteers to the Elite Eight in the 2026 NCAA Tournament before they were defeated.
Following the season, Ament declared for the 2026 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a lottery pick.
Ament has good height and length for a wing player entering the NBA Draft. He stands at 6-foot-9.5 and 211 pounds. With his height, he has good length, with a wingspan just under 7-feet. Ament uses his size to get shots off against smaller defenders, and he is often in those positions because of his ability to play on the perimeter.
His ball handling for his size is great and shows the potential for him to get into the lane. He can get the paint off the dribble and then score at a decent rate or find a teammate. Ament also shows some ability to pull up off the dribble and get clean looks over defenders. He won’t create a ton of space for himself, but he does get enough space to be effective.
It isn’ the most efficient at the moment, but Ament shows potential as a shooter from the mid-range and deep. He shot 79 percent from the free-throw line and his mid-range jumpers are fluid, allowing him to use his height well. Ament shot 33.3 percent from deep at Tennessee and at times, he showed an ability to get hot.
Ament needs to fill out his frame more for the next level. He is just 211 pounds, which is light for a player at his height. This can help him finish at the basket better, but also drive and play through contact. At the defensive end of the floor, it will allow him to match up against bigger players if he has to switch.
While his shot shows potential, Ament isn’t very efficient offensively, especially given his height. He shot 43 percent from the field and 33 percent from deep as a heavily-utilized player at Tennessee. He will need to be more efficient at the next level and make the most of every chance, because he won’t get as many shots at the next level. Being a more consistent shooter will help him, as his hot and cold nature has to even out and improve.
There is some defensive potential because of his length and body control, but he can be exploited at times. He doesn’t have the quickness to stay in front of all perimeter matchups. Ament can also fight through screens better and show the ability to switch on to bigger players. While he may not be a liability on defense, he has some work to do to turn it into a strength.
