Myles Powell will sign as an undrafted free agent with the New York Knicks according to multiple reports.
Last night, Powell was not selected by a team even though he was eligible for the draft. The Knicks also had the eighth pick of the draft last night and selected Obi Toppin. Powell reports that Toppin and himself had been working out together in New Jersey so it seems as though these two rookies are ready to take on the NBA together.
Powell is coming off of a four year career at Seton Hall University. At Seton Hall, his career statistics were 21 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game and 2.9 assists per game. Last year, Powell was debating whether to stay at Seton Hall for his senior year or to enter the draft. After deciding to stay, Powell earned a lot of attention for his senior year.
Last year, Seton Hall had a record of 21-9 with a conference record of 13-5. Unfortunately, the Big East Tournament was cancelled due to the Covid-19 virus. This meant that Seton Hall did not get to play a single tournament game. Despite the cancellation of the Big East Tournament, Myles Powell still earned the Big East Player of the Year, along with a number of different accolades and awards. Powell then declared for the NBA Draft after a his standout senior season.
