The 2023 NBA Draft takes place on Thursday, June 22, as both rounds are wrapped up in one night. As it approaches, TGH will be taking a quick look some teams’ draft strategies, and shedding some light on what direction they will go with their picks.. Here is the Milwaukee Bucks NBA Draft profile for 2023.
Milwaukee, for the third time in five seasons, finished with the best record in the entire NBA. Despite their one seed status, they were defeated by the eventual Eastern Conference Champion Miami Heat in just five games. This playoff exit led to the firing of head coach Mike Budenholzer
The Bucks have one pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Second Round (one pick):
Pick #60: Oscar Tshiebwe, C, Kentucky
This may be a controversial pick, because many outlets don’t have Tshiebwe being drafted at all. But being that this is such a lean draft at the true center position, there’s reason to believe a team will take a flyer on him.
The lows with Tshiebwe are immediately evident. He’s likely going to take a step back offensively from mid-range out to the three-point line and he can’t really pass the ball. He also needs to get better at setting his picks and the nuances of being a low-post defender.
However, he’s a prolific NCAA rebounder and a high-percentage scorer around the rim. He may only be 6-foot-7 but he plays much bigger than that. Motor and hustle are things that are hard to quantify in a draft profile, but if it means anything then he has it in spades. This pick could be especially huge for the Bucks if they lose Brook Lopez, who’s had a career resurgence in Milwaukee.
