
The Los Angeles Lakers are making a trade for center Mo Bamba. In the trade, the Lakers are sending away Patrick Beverley to the Orlando Magic in the trade. Los Angeles previously traded away 25-year-old center Thomas Bryant in their Russell Westbrook trade on Wednesday night.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported the news via Twitter on Thursday.
Bamba, a 7-footer, was drafted by the Magic with the sixth overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, out of the University of Texas. He has been a member of the Magic for the duration of his career, until today. Last year, he played set a career mark for games played in a single season, at 71 (69 starts).
In 40 games (six starts) this season, Bamba has averaged 7.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and one block in 17 minutes played per game. Last year was the most productive of his career, as he grabbed 8.1 total rebounds and 10.6 points per game.
