The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a deal with free agent center Deandre Ayton, according to Chris Haynes. It is a two-year deal with a player option.
Ayton, 26, is a former no. 1 overall pick who has played seven NBA seasons for the Suns and Trail Blazers. In his career, he has averaged 16.4 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
The Lakers have been looking for a center piece for their roster since last season. They made a trade for Mark Williams that was negated due to a failed physical. Ayton will join LeBron James and Luka Doncic as the Lakers try to make a push towards competing again next season.
