Leonard Miller 2023 NBA Draft Profile

Publish Date: June 20, 2023

The 2023 NBA Draft will be an important event for teams to build for their future. Here is the Leonard Miller 2023 NBA Draft Profile.

Leonard Miller Background

Position: Forward

 Size: 6-foot-9, 213 pounds

Class: N/A

Previous Team: G-League Ignite

2022-2023 stats: 18.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.9 steals, 0.8 blocks, 55.6%FG, 32.7%3FG, 79.2%FT

Miller spent one season with the G-League Ignite team preparing himself for the NBA. Now he is in the 2023 NBA Draft.

As a four-star recruit out of high school, Miller turned down scholarship offers from Kentucky, Alabama and Arizona to go to the G-League. In his one season in the G-League, Miller averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds per game over 24 games played.

Following the G-League season, Miller declared for the 2023 NBA draft. He is currently projected to be a first-round pick.

Leonard Miller Strengths

Miller is a great rebounder, especially given that he is an undersized big man. In the G-League, he pulled down 11 rebounds per game. He could have better positioning, but is able to overcome it by aggressively going after the ball. Miller sees how the ball will come off the rim quickly and has the athleticism to go get it. His rebounding shows up on both ends of the floor, as he averaged 3.3 offensive rebounds per game.

He has good athleticism, especially for his size. Miller shows good body control when he is leaping through the air for rebounds or finishing at the rim. He runs the floor well and is a threat to finish in transition. Miller is quicker than other interior players and is able to get to the basket, even from the post because he eludes them.

His ability to finish at the rim is great as well. While he is a left-hand dominant player most of the time, he showed the ability to finish with either hand in the G-League. As mentioned, he is quick in the post and is able to spin his way to the basket before finishing. He can handle some contact, but will need to add some strength to improve his finishing even further.

Leonard Miller Weaknesses

Miller will need to add strength at the next level if he is going to play in the post. He is 6-foot-9 and just 213 pounds. Miller can give up post position and can struggle to fight for rebounds. Adding strength would also help him finish at the rim even better. Filling out his frame will be a top priority once his career begins.

He has shown some potential as a shooter, but lacks consistency. Miller did shoot over 30 percent from deep in G-League play, but was streaky. He can catch and shoot at times, but has a slower release that takes a while for him to get off. If he can work on shooting the ball quicker and knock down more shots, he could stretch the floor as a big man.

His defensive impact could be greater given his measurables. He averaged just 0.9 steals and 0.8 blocks per game in the G-League. Miller has the athleticism and wingspan to jump passing lanes and protect the rim at a higher level. He’ll need to add strength and show better awareness on the defensive end of the floor to start making more of an impact.
