LeBron James on Lakers Adding Anthony Davis: “That Would Be Incredible.”

Anthony Davis is one of the best young players in the NBA and the 25-year old forward is having an incredible season so far. He averages a double-double with 28 points and 12.4 rebounds, ranking third in the league in points per game. Kevin Durant and James Harden are the two who average more points than Davis. He also averages 2.8 blocks per game, which makes him second in the league. In two of his last three games, Davis scored 40-plus points.

Davis is the star player of the New Orleans Pelicans. In 2012, the Pelicans (then known as the Hornets) drafted Davis with the first overall pick and he’s been with the Pelicans ever since. Anthony Davis is the franchise player of the Pelicans, and their intention is to build around him. However, other teams have their eye on Davis. For example, the Los Angeles Lakers are potentially interested in him.

On Friday, Davis and the Pelicans face the Lakers. This is the first time that the Pelicans play at Staples Center. The Lakers and their fans have hopes of acquiring a player of Davis’s caliber. This includes LeBron James.

While talking to the media, James discussed the possibility of playing with Davis.

“That would be amazing,” James said, “That would be amazing, like duh. That would be incredible.”

The New Orleans Pelicans are 12th in the Western Conference, with a record of 15-16. The Lakers are 18-13 and are fourth in the West. The Lakers are playing well after a 0-3 start to the season. The Lakers are exceeding expectations, but they could benefit from a player like Davis. The addition of Anthony Davis or Kevin Durant would help the Lakers become a contender.

Davis is also a client of Klutch Sports Group, which is the same management LeBron James uses. Rich Paul, a close friend of James, runs the company. Davis is under contract with the Pelicans for $27.1 million next season. He also has a player option in 2020-21. If the Lakers want Davis before he is a free agent, they have to make a trade. With Davis being a Klutch Sports Group client, a trade to the Lakers becomes more intriguing.

At this moment, Davis remains with the Pelicans, but, the Lakers aren’t out of the picture.
