The Los Angeles Lakers have hired a new head coach. Former Milwaukee Bucks assistant Darvin Ham will take over as the next Lakers head coach. Los Angeles fired Frank Vogel after the team failed to make the playoffs in 2022.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the news via Twitter on Friday evening.
Ham played for various basketball organizations, both professional and semi-pro from 1996 until 2008. As a player, he is likely best known for being a part of the 2004 Detroit Pistons team that defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals.
As a coach, Ham cut his teeth as an assistant for the New Mexico Thunderbirds before taking over as head coach. He, then, served as an assistant for the Lakers, Hawks and Bucks. He won another ring with the 2021 Milwaukee Bucks.
