The 2025 NBA Draft will be an important event for teams to build for their future. Here is the Kon Knueppel NBA Draft Profile.
Position: Guard
Size: 6-foot-5, 219 pounds
Class: Freshman
College: Duke
2024-2025 stats: 14.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.2 blocks, 47.9% FG, 40.6% 3FG, 91.4% FT
Knueppel was a five-star recruit in the class of 2024 who signed with Duke out of Wisconsin. He showed his ability in one season by putting up 14.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Hie play helped Duke make the Final Four of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
Following the season, Knueeppel declared for the 2025 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a lottery pick.
Knueppel is a great shooter from deep and can stretch the floor for an NBA offense. He shot over 40 percent from deep at Duke last season. Defenders constantly needed to know where he was because of his ability to shoot quickly. He also shot 91.4 percent from the free throw line, showing some of the softest touch in the class.
He has the potential to be a three-level scorer at the next level, albeit in different ways. Knueppel can shoot it from deep and the mid-range well. He can get to the basket and finish through contact decently, even if most of it comes below the rim. To help his short to intermediate game, he has some nice floaters at his disposal as well.
For a wing, Knueppel has decent ball-handling. While he is still developing his skills in this area, he can take advantage of defenders trying to close out on him as a shooter and then get to the lane. He also protects the ball pretty well, with just 1.4 turnovers during his one season at Duke.
There is effort on defense, but he simply doesn’t have the movement abilities to stay in front as a defender. He does ok when guarding off the ball, but when forced to stop drives, he struggles. Teams will have to plan for how they use him based on his deficiencies on the defensive end.
His athleticsim will be below-average for the NBA level. He finishes a lot of his plays near the basket below the rim. Knueppel doesn’t have the quickest first step, best agility or great speed. He is more of a skilled play rather than an athlete. On defense this really limits him.
Knueppel can improve his playmaking both for himself and others. He doesn’t create his own shot very well, as he can struggle to create separation from defenders. Knueppel doesn’t have that quick first step to get into the lane as often as others, unless they are closing out on him and he takes advantage. He is unselfish, but can look to make more plays for his teammates as well.
Projected Draft Range: Lottery Pick
