Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson has suffered a torn Achilles tendon. This injury will keep Thompson off the court for a second straight season.

During the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors, Thompson injured his ACL, which ended his 2020 season before it began. In that same finals, Kevin Durant injured his Achilles. Stephen Curry was on and off the court with various injuries. All of this added up to a second-overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft after making five straight NBA Finals appearances.
The Warriors selected center James Wiseman with the second pick on Wednesday. They were clearly hoping to pair him with Thompson, Curry and Draymond Green to make yet another run at the championship.
Now that Thompson will not be seen until at least 2021, Golden State may have to put their title hopes on the back burner for another season, unless a move can be made for James Harden or Giannis Antetokounmpo.
