Free agent guard Klay Thompson will be suiting up for a new team for the first time in his career. Thompson has agreed to a three-year, $50 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The move will require a sign and trade according to Chris Haynes.
Thompson, 34, has played 11 NBA seasons, while missing two with injuries with the Golden State Warriors. Over his career he has averaged 19.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He made five All-Star Games and won four NBA Championships with the Warriors. Last season, Thompson averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
The Mavericks made the NBA Finals last season and now will be looking to win with additions they are making this offseason. Thompson will join Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic in the backcourt.
