Publish Date: June 21, 2022

The 2022 NBA Draft will be an important event for teams to build for their future. Here is the Kendall Brown 2022 NBA Draft Profile.

Kendall Brown Background

Position: Forward

Size: 6-foot-7, 201 pounds

Class: Freshman

School: Baylor

2021-22 stats: 9.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.4 blocks per game, 58.4% FG, 34.1% 3FG, 68.9% FT

Brown spent one season at Baylor showing off his talents and skills. He has now been preparing for the 2022 NBA Draft.

As a five-star recruit, Brown was one of the best recruits in Baylor history. He immediately joined the starting lineup for the Bears. In 34 games played, Brown averaged 9.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. His play helped Baylor get a no. 1 seed in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, but they lost to North Carolina in the second round.

Following the NCAA Tournament appearance, Brown declared for the draft. He is a projected late first-round pick.

Kendall Brown Strengths

For his size, Brown is an elite athlete. He runs the floor well and can finish in transition. His jumping ability allows him to finish, dunk and block shots. He has the foot quickness to get past his man (especially one that is of similar height) and to stay in front of them defensively. His athleticism allows him to do plenty of things on the floor well.

He finishes very well at the basket. Brown shot 81.5 percent from right around the basket and showed the ability to score over defenders or even around them. He can throw down dunks, but also can make layups if he can’t get all the way to the rim. Whether in transition or in the halfcourt, Brown will finish well for a player at his position.

While his shooting consistency needs to improve, Brown showed that he can be effective in catch-and-shoot situations from 3-point range. He shot specifically well from the top of the key and the left side of the floor, both in the corner and on the wing. If set up for his shot, Brown can stretch the floor for his teammates to create more.

Kendall Brown Weaknesses

He doesn’t create his own shot for a variety of reasons. Brown isn’t great at hitting mid-range and deep jumpers off the dribble. Part of the problem is that it takes a longer time for him to release his shot. He’ll need to improve both his shooting form and his release time to be able to get up more shots at the NBA level.

Brown also won’t create for his teammates very well. He didn’t have the ball in his hands a lot at the collegiate level, but also didn’t set up his teammates well when he did. Brown averaged 1.9 assists to 1.7 turnovers per game. In the NBA, his role will likely be as someone that stays near the basket to finish or stands at the 3-point line to stretch the floor without much in between.

Even for a player his size, Brown did not rebound at a great rate. He averaged 4.9 rebounds per game. His athleticism allows for the potential to improve in this area, but he didn’t always recognize how the ball was coming off the rim. He also needs to be more aggressive in going after the ball in rebounding situations. If he can improve his fundamentals rebounding, he can do so much better in the NBA.

Projected Draft Range: Late First Round Pick
