Jeremy Sochan 2022 NBA Draft Profile

Publish Date: June 21, 2022

The 2022 NBA Draft will be an important event for teams to build for their future. Here is the Jeremy Sochan 2022 NBA Draft Profile.

Jeremy Sochan Background

Position: Forward

Size: 6-foot-9, 230 pounds

Class: Freshman

School: Baylor

2021-22 stats: 9.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.7 blocks per game, 47.4% FG, 29.6% 3FG, 58.9% FT

Sochan played one year at Baylor and came off the bench to provide an impact. He is now entering the 2022 NBA Draft.

Originally from overseas, Sochan made his college decision to play at Baylor after being a four-star prospect. He played 25.1 minutes per game while coming off the bench for the Bears. Sochan averaged 9.2 points and 6.4 rebounds for Baylor. The Bears earned a no. 1 seed in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, but were bounced out in the second round.

After the season, Sochan decided to leave college for the NBA. He is currently projected to be a mid to late first-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

Jeremy Sochan Strengths

Sochan is mostly known for his defense. At 6-foot-9 and 230 pounds, Sochan can guard on the interior and on the perimeter. His length and athleticism help him stay in front of other players. He will need to add some strength to guard better in the post, but he has done a solid job there as well. Sochan can switch and guard multiple positions and generates steals as well.

Not only is he a good and versatile defender, he is also a good team defender. He routinely is able to help from the weakside, showing his basketball IQ in the process. A lot of his steals come from him reading offenses well and jumping passing lanes. Teammates can usually count on Sochan to be in the right spot.

Near the basket, Sochan finishes well. He can throw down some dunks and has a few post moves. When he drives to the basket, he also shows the ability to finish with a nice layup around other players. His athleticism helps him finish over bigger players.

Jeremy Sochan Weaknesses

Shooting is something that Sochan will need to improve. He shot under 30 percent from deep at Baylor and was very inconsistent. His best area shooting from deep was from the top of the key, so he needs to work on wing and corner 3-pointers. He’ll need to hit more mid-range jumpers as well. To go with his shooting woes, Sochan hit under 60 percent of his free throws.

He’ll need to add a little bit of strength to hold up in the post. His frame is a good start for the NBA, but at 230 pounds there will be players bigger than him who may be able to outmuscle him down low. If he can add 10-20 pounds of muscle, he could be more of an inside threat.

There were games where Sochan turned the ball over entirely too much. He averaged 1.6 turnovers per game and could cut that down without so many reckless games. His playmaking instincts are good, but he sometimes tries to force passes that are not there.

Projected Draft Range: Mid to Late First Round Pick
