The 2025 NBA Draft will be an important event for teams to build for their future. Here is the Jeremiah Fears NBA Draft Profile.
Position: Guard
Size: 6-foot-2.5, 179.6 pounds
Class: Freshman
College: Oklahoma
2024-2025 stats: 17.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.6 steals, 0.1 blocks, 43.4% FG, 28.4% 3FG, 85.1% FT
Fears was a four-star recruit in the class of 2024 who signed with Oklahoma out of Arizona. He made an immediate impact for the Sooners, averaging 17.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. His play helped the Sooners make the NCAA Tournament, but they were bounced out in the first round.
Following his season at Oklahoma, Fears declared for the 2025 NBA Draft. He is a projected lottery pick.
Fears has great ball-handling ability for a prospect. He has the ability to create space for himself for shots or to get into the lane. When driving, he does so stronger than his thin frame would indicate and can protect the basketball. With more time, his ball-handling could improve to be some of the best in the league.
He has quality athleticism which should allow him to fit right in with other players at the NBA level. Fears has good quickness, giving him a quick first step that is hard to keep up with. He also has good agility to change directions, which helps him on both ends of the floor. Fears has solid speed as well.
The ability to run an offense and distribute the ball is there, although it will need to be developed. He can run the pick and roll well, finding open teammates often times as a result. He can find open players in transition and in the half-court, especially when more attention is turned to him by defenses.
Fears has decent height for a point guard at 6-foot-2.5, but is skinny at under 180 pounds. He will need to add play strength and fill out his frame. Doing so will help him match up with players better at the defensive end of the floor. Offensively, it would help as well, as he is a player that will do a lot more damage in the lane with added strength.
There is some work to do on his shot for the next level. He shot just 28.4 percent from deep in college and 43.4 percent from the floor. His range will need to be extended to the NBA 3-point line as well, but there will also be less defensive focus on him than there was in college.
Currently, Fears turns the ball over way too much. He had a 4.1 to 3.4 assist to turnover ratio at Oklahoma. Seeing the floor more clearly and not trying to do so much will help him. So too will the more spaced floor and lower usage rate he will get when starting in the NBA next season.
Projected Draft Range: Lottery Pick
