Nuggets guard Jamal Murray has suffered a torn ACL in his left knee. He was originally helped off the court in a game against the Golden State Warriors on Monday, favoring his left knee. An MRI revealed the worst, his left ACL was torn. He will be out “indefinitely,” which almost certainly means the rest of the 2021 season and playoffs.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday morning.
In 48 games, Murray was averaging 21.2 points, 4.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game in 35.5 minutes per game. These were career best numbers for the emerging superstar. He was also hitting three-pointers at a career-high clip, at 6.6 per game.
This loss is a big blow to the Nuggets’ championship hopes, but they still sit at fourth in the Western Conference. There is little chance they will miss the playoffs completely.
