Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant is being suspended for the first 25 games of the 2022-2023 NBA season. This suspension comes down after he was seen posing with a gun on an Instagram Live feed with a friend.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported the news on Friday, via Twitter.
In March 4 of this last season, Morant had a gun inside a nightclub. This was also posted on Instagram Live. He ended up being away from the team until March 20, through self-imposed, team and league exiles.
This time away from basketball precluded him from playing the number of games necessary to make an All-Pro team, which, in turn cost him a chance at a supermax contract. All-in-all, that cost him about $40 million in contract dollars.
