J.J. Reddick has been traded from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Dallas Mavericks. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported the news just a few minutes away from the official NBA trade deadline on Thursday afternoon.

Reddick is in his 15th NBA season and the Mavericks will be his sixth team in that span. His longest stint was with the team that drafted him, the Orlando Magic.
In 2020, Reddick is averaging 8.7 points and 1.3 assists. He has only played in 31 games and has come off of the bench in every single one of them. This is a big drop-off from his 2019-2020 numbers, in which he scored 15.3 points.
The Mavericks are hoping Reddick’s veteran presence will help continue the team’s trajectory toward a playoff berth.
