Introducing Sidy Cissoko

Publish Date: June 28, 2023

After taking Victor Wembanyama first overall, the Spurs then selected another Frenchman with the 44th pick. With that pick, they selected 6-8 forward Sidy Cissoko out of France.

Here is what you need to know about Sidy Cissoko.

Early Life

Cissoko grew up in Saint-Maurice, France and began playing basketball when he was just four years old. At 13, he moved to Spain to compete in the youth ranks of Baskonia. He quickly rose through the ranks of the Spanish Basketball League. At the junior level he averaged 17.4 points per game with the Liga Espanola de Baloncest Aficionado.

G League Ignite

Cissoko signed with the G Leauge Ignite in July 2022.

He averaged 11.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists last season. He also shot 45% from the field and 30% from three.

What He Brings to San Antonio

Sidy brings a 6-foot-8 massive frame to the Spurs. He is able to power past defenders and get to the rim.

After moving around a lot during his life, he will now find himself in San Antonio with an opportunity to continue to develop.

He does need to work on his shooting, but expect good things from the 44th overall pick. He will join fellow Frenchman Victor Wembanyama on the Spurs and expect him to see some minutes this upcoming NBA season.
