Heat’s Playoff Run Continues Without Tyler Herro

Publish Date: June 9, 2023

The Miami Heat have spent the playoffs overcoming their position in the NBA betting

The #8 seed in the Eastern Conference, they have knocked off the top two teams, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics, as well as the #5 New York Knicks. It has been more remarkable that this has been accomplished without their guard Tyler Herro.

Despite his absence, the Heat are well in the mix in the Finals as they go head-to-head with the Nuggets. And, if you want the latest prices for the series, you can find them all online. There are a lot of betting sites that must provide it. However, it might be easier to find it on your mobile device. And don’t feel bad about it, there are so many great betting apps to find it as well. The best betting apps Australia sometimes even better than the betting site itself.

Tyler Herro Injury

The 23-year-old only made it to half-time in Game One of the Bucks series. He suffered a broken right hand while diving for a loose ball in that April 16 matchup, which was the last time that he had been seen time on the court in competition.

Two broken fingers, middle and ring, have kept him out of the action as his teammates have fought their way into the finals. Initially thought to be a four to six-week recovery from the breaks, the timer has ticked to seven weeks following surgery on April 21.

It is not like Herro has been invisible, though – quite the opposite. His fashion tastes have kept him in the limelight through the Heat’s run as he has cheered on his team from the sidelines in a string of colourful ensembles.

Heat Keeping Cards Close

The Heat have been tight-lipped on a return date for their star. It had been hoped that he would be back for the matchup against the best of the west, the Denver Nuggets.

So far, there has been no official return date set following the four to six-week general guideline. Despite no Herro, the Heat scored consistently well in their opening three series and became the first team in the playoffs to leave Denver with a win under their belts.

The Heat coach Erik Spoelstra confirmed that Herro is not ready to go when talking this week. He said, “He has not been cleared for a game”, despite being cleared to resume basketball activities on May 23.

The drawn-out nature of Herro’s potential return to action has to worry Heat fans, who will justifiably ask if there is more to this saga than the Heat are willing to disclose.

The Big Question

So, will Herro return before the end of the finals? Already a week past the end of his expected return date, the chances of seeing Herro in a Heat jersey again this season are dropping by the day.

While the Heat didn’t look to miss Herro early in the playoffs, their scoring has seen a steep decline in the Nuggets series. Herro has already been ruled out of Game 4 as he has yet to do any contact work in drills involving anyone bar the Heat’s coaching staff.

The Nuggets were already the -360 favourite when betting for the finals opened, trading at shorter odds now. The Heat have found a way to win in Denver once in this series, but they have a lot to do if they are to double that tally in the series, especially if the return of Herro ends up not being until next season.

Would the Heat risk Herro if it comes to a win or go-home game? They were not expected to make much of an impact in these playoffs as the #8 seed, but will their hand be forced if they face elimination? There are some big questions that this series still has to answer, and we can not wait to find out what happens the rest of the way.
