Giannis Antetokounmpo Traded to the Miami Heat

After a long saga, Giannis Antetokounmpo has been traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Miami Heat. In return, the Heat are sending Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez, Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks, a pick swap and a second-rounder. Going with Antetokounmpo to Miami will be Bobby Portis. Shams Charania reported the news.

Antetokounmpo, 31, is a 10-time All-Star who has played his entire 13-year career with the Bucks. He led the team to the 2021 NBA Championship and is a two-time MVP. In his career, Antetokounmpo has averaged 24.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game.

With him going to Miami is Portis, 31, an 11-year veteran who was also on the Bucks’ 2021 NBA Championship team. He scored 13.7 points per game for the Bucks last season.

In Miami, Antetokounmpo will join Bam Adebayo, another All-NBA player as the Heat try to make a run for a title.

Milwaukee is turning over to a new era and bringing in plenty of assets to start it. Herro is the big name in the trade, as the only one to score over 20 points per game, but Ware and Jaquez have played a lot for the Heat as well. Jakucionis had a solid rookie season who will be looking to improve in Milwaukee.

The Bucks also get pick no. 13 in the 2026 NBA Draft, along with unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033. They will do a pick swap in 2030 and the Bucks will also get a second-round pick in 2033.
