Dylan Harper NBA Draft Profile

Publish Date: May 27, 2025

The 2025 NBA Draft will be an important event for teams to build for their future. Here is the Dylan Harper NBA Draft Profile.

Dylan Harper Background

Position: Guard

Size: 6-foot-4.5, 213.2 pounds

Class: Freshman

College: Rutgers

2024-2025 stats: 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.4 steals, 0.6 blocks, 48.4% FG, 33.3% 3FG, 75% FT

Harper was a five-star recruit who signed with Rutgers to stay in-state for his college career. He impressed in his one season with the Scarlet Knights, putting up averages of 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. Although he played well, Rutgers struggled and did not make the postseason.

Following the season, Harper declared for the 2025 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a top-five pick.

Dylan Harper Strengths

Harper has the ability to create his own shot and shots for others at the next level. He has the ability to create space with his ball handling, with the ability to hit step-back jumpers. His ability to get to the basket helps keep defenders honest, which can leave room for mid-range and deep jumpers. In addition, he is able to see the floor pretty well and set up his teammates for open shots.

As a ball-handler, he can create space, but he also protects the ball pretty well. Harper had a 4.0-2.4 assist to turnover ratio in college and with a more spaced floor in the NBA that should improve. He has the capability to operate the pick and roll well, which is perfect for the modern day NBA.

He is a good and creative finisher around the basket. Harper is able to finish through contact from bigger players, but can also adjust in midair to avoid contact when needed. While he can dunk when he gets some momentum, he more often finishes with layups around the basket and does so at a consistent rate.

Dylan Harper Weaknesses

His shooting will need to improve from deep at the next level. Harper shot 33.3 percent from 3-point range in his one season at Rutgers. That is a good starting point, but he needs to improve to be a consistent threat from outside at the NBA level. With the longer 3-point line and better defenders, Harper will have to work on his shot, but has plenty of potential in that area.

While he has the athleticism and size to be a good perimeter defender at the NBA level, Harper can play up to his potential more on that end of the floor. There are times when he gets unfocused, specifically when he is playing off the ball. If he locks in, both when guarding the ball and not, he can turn defense into a strength.

Harper has solid athleticism, but is not an elite athlete. He has decent speed and quickness, but moreso gets himself free with his moves. Harper doesn’t finish at the basket often with amazing dunks. He has enough athleticism to be a solid defender, but will likely have trouble guarding the elite athletes in the NBA.

Projected Draft Range: Top Five Pick
