Deni Avdija 2020 NBA Draft Profile

The 2020 NBA Draft will be an important event for teams to build for their future. Here is the Deni Avdija 2020 NBA Draft Profile.

Position: Guard/Forward

Size: 6-foot-9, 220 pounds

Country: Israel

Class: N/A

Avdija is a 19-year-old who has been very impressive for Maccabi Tel Aviv in his professional career already. He has been able to show off his unique skills at a high-level for a few seasons now, making him a valuable draft prospect.

He was the youngest player to ever play for Maccabi Tel Aviv starting in 2017. Avdija made the most of his opportunity and eventually developed into a key player. He averaged 12.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last season. In addition to his club career, Avdija also starred for his country. He helped Israel win the 2019 FIBA U20 European Championship and he was named MVP.

After proving himself overseas, Avdija has decided to declare for the 2020 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a lottery pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Deni Avdija 2020 NBA Draft Profile

Avdija is a great creator and puts pressure on defenses. He drives the basketball well and has good ball-handling ability. Once he gets to the middle of the lane he can find the open man. He runs the pick and roll with great precision. When there is an open man, Avdija always keeps the ball moving to get the best shot. He will be able to pass well at the NBA level because of his instinct to create.

His offensive game is focused around him getting the basket if he can’t find an open man. He has a quick first step and can get by his man a lot. Once he gets into the lane, he can finish with a dunk, layup or floaters. His ability to size up a defense and figure out the best way to attack and get a shot off will only benefit him in his quest to be the best NBA player he can be.

The basketball IQ that Avdija shows is very high. He rarely takes bad shots and tries to find the best shot possible for his team to score. Avdija cuts without the ball well, understands defenses and can get open. On defense, he shows good court awareness and a willingness to help out his teammates when they need it.

His shooting needs work for Avdija to be a the best player possible. He doesn’t hit a high percentage of threes for a wing player, especially when he’ll need to adjust to a deeper 3-point line. While his form is good, he still has to work on his shot to hit a higher percentage. If he can stretch defenses out further away from the basket, he will be a real offensive threat.

On the defensive side of the ball, Avdija can be a little bit of a tweener. He will have trouble staying in front of the quicker players on the perimeter, but may not be big enough to guard bigger players in the post. He’s tall enough to guard post players, but needs to add strength. It may take a while to adjust to defending NBA players.

Avdija has good body control, but his athleticism won’t be up there with other players in the class. He has a quick first step, but in other areas, he may not match up well with NBA athletes. This could prevent him from being able to score on the offensive end and could make it hard for him to keep players in front of him.

Projected Draft Range: Lottery Pick
