The Golden State Warriors find themselves in an interesting position. They are first in the Western Conference with a record of 31-14. The Warriors have a half-game lead over the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference. The Nuggets were first in the West, but the Warriors are on a six-game winning streak, which included a win over Denver. The Warriors beat the Nuggets 142-111 with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson finishing the game with 31 points each.
The Warriors are playing well, and it could possibly get better with DeMarcus Cousins finally ready to return from his injury and play with the Warriors.
In the offseason, the Golden State Warriors signed DeMarcus Cousins to a one-year, $5.3 million deal. Cousins did not receive many contract offers from other teams, and signed with the defending champions. Previously, Cousins played for the New Orleans Pelicans. He played 48 games and averaged 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds. While with the Pelicans, Cousins suffered a torn left Achilles, causing him to miss the remainder of the 2017-2018 season and the start of this season.
Cousins joined a contender, and the Warriors arguably became stronger. So far, the Warriors have played to their typical level. Now, they have another piece to add to their core.
As Cousins rehabbed his injury, the Warriors assigned him to their G League affiliate. the Santa Cruz Warriors, to practice and prepare for his return. Cousins is ready to return, even if it means a potential minutes restriction.
Recently, Cousins had a sit down interview with Rachel Nichols of ESPN. He discussed fan’s perception of him signing with the Warriors.

“I don’t really pay attention to storylines,” Cousins said. “I mean, they’re gonna say what they have to say. They’re gonna add their opinions. We’re the most hated team in sports.”
Nichols asked Cousins if he really thought they were the most hated team in sports. She named a few teams such as the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees. Then, Cousins stuck by his claim.
‘Well, put us up there. I would say the Warriors are for sure. You know they hate Kevin. They hate me. I think the only guy they really like is Stephen. Actually, they may hate him as well. They hate Draymond Green. But I mean, it is what it is. I can’t worry about that.”
Are the Warriors the most hated teams in all of sports or at least one of them? It is a possibility. If anything, they are one of the most hated teams in the NBA. Regardless, the Cousins and the Warriors are up for the challenge.
