DeMar DeRozan has agreed to sign a one-year, $3.9 million contract with the Denver Nuggets, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
DeRozan, who is entering his 18th NBA season, was one of the top remaining free agents and had spoken with the Miami Heat, Washington Wizards and New Orleans Pelicans before ultimately choosing to sign with Denver and stay in the West.
After failed trade attempts earlier this summer, DeRozan and the Sacramento Kings worked together to allow him to find a new home this offseason. The Kings ultimately waived DeRozan, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Last season with the Kings, DeRozan averaged 18.4 points while shooting 49.7% from the field and 32.0% from three-point range in 77 games. DeRozan should figure to be an important piece within the Nuggets’ roster and is still one of the most reliable and durable players in the league, even at age 37, appearing in at least 70 games in each of the past five seasons.
