The 2025 NBA Draft will be an important event for teams to build for their future. Here is the Cooper Flagg NBA Draft Profile.
Position: Forward
Size: 6-foot-7.75, 221 pounds
Class: Freshman
College: Duke
2024-2025 stats: 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, 1.4 blocks, 48.1% FG, 38.5% 3FG, 84% FT
Flagg was a five-star recruit in the class of 2024 who signed with Duke out of Maine. In his one season at Duke, he averaged 19.2 points 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. His play helped the Blue Devils make the Final Four.
Following the season, Flagg declared for the 2025 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be the first overall pick.
Flagg is a versatile defender, capable of matching up with multiple positions. His size, length and athleticism help him defend a lot of different positions. On the perimeter, he is able to use his length to bother opponents. He is able to stay in front, as he moves his feet well. His size and length also helps him defend in the post. Flagg is a player that will be able to switch and be effective as a defender in the NBA as a player that can register both blocks and steals.
Especially for his size, Flagg has good athleticism and body control. Flagg has the ability to move well for his size, which helps him on the defense end of the floor and in transition. He has good leaping ability, as he can throw down some pretty amazing dunks. His quickness, speed and jumping ability give him a good floor as a prospect.
While he is still improving his game, Flagg has the potential to be a three-level scorer. He can finish near the basket with layups and dunks. Flagg can operate in the mid-range as well. He showed a solid three-point shot at Duke, making 38.5 percent, which will help a team keep the floor spaced.
Flagg dribbles decently well for his size, but he isn’t currently great at creating his own shots. He was given the ball in late-game situations and struggled in isolation situations. Flagg can continue improving his dribbling to create space and become a more diverse offensive weapon.
He shot the ball well at Duke from deep, but he will need to show he can effectively hit shots from NBA range. With the 3-point line being deeper and Flagg being able to show more of a sample size, he needs to show more consistency and volume from 3-point range to be trusted as an outside shooter.
As mentioned his ball-handling can improve to help create his own shots, but it can also help him limit his turnovers. He showed good passing ability, but at times his handles were a little loose, which made him susceptible to turnovers. Improving will allow him to play on the ball more in the NBA.
