Collin Murray-Boyles NBA Draft Profile

Publish Date: June 10, 2025

The 2025 NBA Draft will be an important event for teams to build for their future. Here is the Collin Murray-Boyles NBA Draft Profile.

Collin Murray-Boyles Background

Position: Forward

Size: 6-foot-6.5,  239.2 pounds

Class: Sophomore

College: South Carolina

2024-2025 stats: 16.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.5 steals,  1.3 blocks, 58.6% FG, 26.5% 3FG, 70.7% FT

Murray-Boyles was a four-star recruit in the class of 2024 who signed with South Carolina out of Utah. He averaged 10.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game as a freshman. His play helped South Carolina make the 2024 NCAA Tournament, where the team lost in the first round. In 2024-25, he put up 16.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. The team struggled and didn’t make the postseason.

Following the season, Murray-Boyles declared for the 2025 NBA Draft. He is a projected first round pick.

Collin Murray-Boyles Strengths

Murray-Boyles is a defensive menace who can guard multiple positions. He can defend decently in the post against smaller bigs, but can also do well on the perimeter. Murray-Boyles moves his feet well and can stay in front of his matchups. He is intelligent, seeing the floor well on the defensive side of the ball and can jump passing lanes, as he generated 1.5 steals per game.

He was efficient with his inside scoring during his college career. Murray-Boyles has the strength and athleticism to finish through contact. He finishes well in the half-court offense and in transition. Murray-Boyles has some nice footwork and moves to help him score over bigger players in the post.

Especially because he is an undersized big, Murray-Boyles showed great rebounding acumen. He uses his solid athleticism to go up and high-point the ball. More than that though, he boxes out well and is a good judge of how the ball will come off the rim. His fight on the glass help make up for his lack of size.

Collin Murray-Boyles Weaknesses

As mentioned, Murray-Boyles is undersized for his position. His 7-foot wingspan is nice, but he stands just over 6-foot-6, which will make him a tweener in the NBA. Teams will have to use him differently, as he could be a good small-ball five, but only if the other team is playing small as well. He’ll have to fight for a role given his size.

Murray-Boyles doesn’t stretch the floor well and will need to improve his outside shot to be a more effective scorer. He did improve from making no 3-pointers as a freshman to making 26.5 percent of his outside shots lasts season. An undersized post player who can’t shoot from the outside is going to have a hard time making it in the NBA.

While he is a good passer out of the post, Murray-Boyles also turned the ball over too much. He averaged 2.4 turnovers per game last season at South Carolina. Murray-Boyles needs to recognize when double teams are coming and move the ball better. He had a lot of focus on him from opponents last season, so stepping up to the next level with a more spaced floor could help.
