With NBA free agency largely wrapped up, it’s a great time to take a look at each NBA team’s depth chart as we head closer to the NBA season. Let’s take a look at the Cleveland Cavaliers’ updated depth chart following free agency, along with some analysis of the team’s incoming and outgoing players as they shape up for the 2026–27 season.

Compared to most other teams in the league, the Cavaliers have had one of the quieter summers in the NBA. After making the Eastern Conference Finals last season, Cleveland has kept most of its roster intact entering the new 2026-27 season.
The team extended star guard Donovan Mitchell to a four-year, $273 million maximum contract extension, ensuring that the face of the franchise stays in Cleveland for the long term. Mitchell has taken his game to another level since being traded to Cleveland, earning All-Star honors in each of his four seasons with the Cavaliers. During the 2025–26 season, Mitchell averaged 27.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.7 assists while shooting 48.3% from the field and 36.4% from three-point range.
The Cavaliers also re-signed center Thomas Bryant to a one-year deal to return to the team. Bryant played in 60 games for the Cavaliers last season, averaging 6.2 points and 3.4 rebounds, and will serve as Jarrett Allen’s backup. The only free-agent signing Cleveland made was Mario Hezonja, who signed a one-year deal to help fill out the guard unit. Hezonja last played in the NBA during the 2019–20 season but will be hoping for a successful second stint after playing overseas for the last six years.
Cleveland’s main departures over the offseason included Dean Wade, Keon Ellis and fan favorite Larry Nance Jr. Wade was Cleveland’s biggest loss of the offseason, and the Cavaliers will surely miss his size, shooting ability and defensive versatility. Ellis also signed with the Brooklyn Nets over the summer, while Larry Nance Jr. signed with the Indiana Pacers.
Although Cleveland did lose some capable players from its second unit and bench, the Cavaliers have managed to keep the majority of their roster from last season, and head coach Kenny Atkinson will be hopeful they can return to the Eastern Conference Finals.
