Sensabaugh wasn’t the most highly-touted recruit, but impressed in his one season at Ohio State. He is now in the 2023 NBA Draft.
As a four-star recruit, Sensabaugh left his home state of Florida to play for the Buckeyes. In his one season in Columbus, Sensabaugh averaged 16.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. His play was great individually, but Ohio State struggled and did not make the postseason.
Following his lone season for the Buckeyes, Sensabaugh declared for the 2023 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a first-round pick.
Sensabaugh has a great build for the NBA. He stands at 6-foot-6 and 235 pounds, which gives him a body that is more NBA-ready than most prospects. Sensabaugh also has a solid wingspan as well. His height and weight, should allow him to play a few different positions during his NBA career.
He is a great scorer because of his ability to drive the basketball. Sensabaugh handles the ball well and drives hard to the basket. Once he is near the basket he can finish well. Sensabaugh even posts up smaller guards. He also can pull up from the mid-range well, as he creates his own space. Sensabaugh has the ability to develop into a three-level scorer.
Along with his ability to drive the ball, Sensabaugh can stretch the floor with his shooting. He shot over 40 percent from deep at Ohio State. Sensabaugh is able to shoot off the dribble and the catch, which makes him more dangerous. His shooting also shows up at the free throw line, as he hit over 80 percent of his free throws.
Sensabaugh is not the greatest athlete. He only has average at best quickness, speed and leaping ability. This does limit his ability to finish above the rim. He could struggle with staying in front of opponents on the defensive end of the floor.
As mentioned, his defense needs some work. He has to find a way to limit penetration when he is guarding the ball. When he is guarding off the ball, he needs to show better awareness to help his teammates. He’ll need to focus and play hard, otherwise he could be a defensive liability in the NBA.
He needs to be a more willing passer. Sensabaugh thrives as an isolation player, which can be good at times, but it also stops the ball from moving on offense. He needs to use his scoring ability as a threat and find open teammates when the defense collapses on him. At Ohio State, he averaged more turnovers than assists per game.
