With NBA free agency largely wrapped up, it’s a great time to take a look at each NBA team’s depth chart as we head closer to the NBA season. Let’s take a look at the Boston Celtics’ updated depth chart following free agency, along with some analysis of the team’s incoming and outgoing players as they shape up for the 2026–27 season.

The biggest offseason news regarding the Celtics was the departure of five-time NBA All-Star Jaylen Brown, whom the team dealt to the 76ers in exchange for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks. This came as a shock to many fans and experts, as Brown was coming off the best statistical season and highest scoring average of his 10-year NBA career (28.7 points per game). He was traded in exchange for an aging Paul George and draft picks despite reportedly garnering significant interest from several other teams.
Despite losing one of the anchors of their team, the Celtics will enter this season with a fully healthy Jayson Tatum looking to lead the franchise’s new-look era. Although George turned 36 in May and played just 37 games for the 76ers last season, he still averaged 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game and should have an important role in the Celtics’ lineup.
Guards Derrick White and Payton Pritchard figure to carve out bigger roles within the offense following Brown’s departure, along with talented young players developed within the Celtics’ system such as Baylor Scheierman and Hugo Gonzalez. The Celtics also added veteran guard Mike Conley, who will bring much-needed experience to a relatively young backcourt group.
The Celtics lost a reliable big man in Luke Kornet but replaced him with Mitchell Robinson, who is coming off an NBA championship with the New York Knicks. Robinson provided excellent interior defense and rebounding throughout the Knicks’ title run. His strong season was rewarded with a three-year, $47.4 million deal, and he adds much-needed stability to the Celtics’ frontcourt. Center Neemias Queta was also re-signed by the Celtics and should carve out a larger role alongside Robinson.
The Celtics will not only be looking to replace Brown’s production, but also to re-establish themselves as serious title contenders after a first-round playoff exit last season with a number of fresh faces now on the roster.
