The 2022 NBA Draft will be an important event for teams to build for their future. Here is the Blake Wesley 2022 NBA Draft Profile.
Blake Wesley Background

Size: 6-foot-4, 187 pounds

The pride of South Bend, Wesley played one season for the Fighting Irish in 2021-2022. He is now headed to the NBA Draft.
Out of high school, he was a four-star recruit who stayed right at home with Notre Dame despite having offers from many teams in the midwest. He averaged 14.4 points and 1.3 steals per game during his lone season for the Irish. His play helped the team make the second round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament after a decent regular season.
Following the run into the NCAA Tournament, Wesley declared for the 2022 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid to late first-round pick.
Blake Wesley Strengths
Wesley is a high-IQ defender who can read passing lanes and jump them to get steals. He averaged 1.3 steals per game at Notre Dame. His long arms come in handy in this regard as opponents underestimate his reach. He is engaged as an off-ball defender and can make an impact that way.
His athleticism is very encouraging. He has quick feet that help him defend and blow past defenders himself. Wesley demonstrated good speed and jumping ability in college. He finished many fastbreaks with nice dunks and will not be at a competitive disadvantage athletically in the NBA.
He can handle the ball well for a variety of reasons. Wesley can create shots for himself off the dribble consistently enough that his team will want the ball in his hands. His first step can be explosive enough to get him into the lane. He also showed the ability to create for his teammates at a decent level. Wesley showed the ability to operate the pick and roll well at the collegiate level, which only increases his value in the NBA.
Blake Wesley Weaknesses
Wesley is not the most efficient shooter. He shot just 40.4 percent from the floor, 30.3 percent from 3-point range and 65.7 percent from the free-throw line. All of these percentages need to increase at the next level. He can finish more at the basket, stretch the floor with better 3-point shooting and can convert when fouled at a much greater rate. He shot just 34.9 percent from the deep left wing, which was his highest shooting percentage from behind the arc.
Like many other prospects, Wesley will need to hit the weight room to add strength. He is just 187 pounds at 6-foot-4, which will put him at a disadvantage in the NBA. Adding about 15 pounds of muscle at least should help him guard bigger players and finish at the basket more consistently.
While he does pass decently well, there are times when he gets too greedy trying to make plays. He averaged 2.4 assists per game, but also averaged 2.2 turnovers per game. Wesley will need to put more focus on taking care of the ball when he passes at the next level.
