
Hall of Fame basketball player Bill Walton has passed away at the age of 71 after a battle with cancer. Walton was a college basketball broadcaster for ESPN and the Pac-12 Network.
In the 1974 NBA Draft Walton was the first overall pick by the Portland Trail Blazers. He was the 1977-78 MVP and helped them win their only NBA championship in 1978. After dealing with injuries and taking time away from the game, Walton played for the Clippers and the Celtics. He helped the Celtics win a title in 1985-1986, while being named the Sixth Man of the Year. He was named to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.
Following his playing days, Walton was a broadcaster of games for the NBA. He later was able to show his love for the Pac-12 during his time as color commentator on ESPN and the Pac-12 Network.
