Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons will be out for at least three more weeks. He has missed every game since the All-Star Break, save for one. What was originally ruled “tightness” has been upgraded to a lower back impingement. He will be reevaluated after the aforementioned three weeks.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania updated Simmons’ situation via Twitter on Wednesday.

Simmons is currently rehabbing the injury, which has been called “complicated.”
In the 54 games he has played, Simmons has scored an average of 16.7 points in 35.7 minutes per game. He also has 7.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists in 2019. He was also in the running for defensive player of the year, as he leads the NBA in steals at 2.1. However, the lengthy injury will likely hurt his odds to win the award.
The Sixers will continue without Simmons on Wednesday night, against the Detroit Pistons.
