Shams Charania of the Athletic has reported that Simmons will be having the surgery on his left knee to remove a loose body from it. He will be leaving the NBA campus to do so.
If Simmons is to miss the rest of the season, it will make it now extremely difficult for the 76ers to keep their Championship hopes alive. The 76ers are currently the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference and can not fall any lower. They are nine games ahead of the Brooklyn Nets who currently are seven seed.
Simmons averaged 16.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 2.1 steals throughout the 2019-20 season. Since entering the bubble Simmons has averaged 11.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.3 steals and a steal in three games played. Simmons missed the 76ers game yesterday versus the Orlando Magic.
